    I had to put my mother in Casa Coloma. The entire ordeal has been really tough, but the Casa Coloma piece has been good. It looks like a sad old place because it IS old and family run, but the looks are really deceiving. It's clean, doesn't smell bad (kitchen smells GREAT) and the people who work there are really, truly nice, caring people. The majority of them have been there a long time, they have very little turnover compared to the corporate-owned nursing homes. Mom likes her caregivers, and the administrator has been extremely helpful with billing issues with Medi-Cal. I would give them 5 stars but they have terrible parking. And the place does really need a makeover, but neither of those negatives is a show stopper. I'll take caring people over shiny surfaces any day.
