    The caretakers and nurses at SLHC are amazing! Most of them really care about their patients, and it shows! The owner, Vinnie, is also wonderful and is always available to talk about any issue/s you may have. My dads food was not being cooked as it was supposed to be, and he wasn't getting the food he was supposed to be getting. Vinnie tried everything to fix the problem, including having one of the supervisors Check his tray before EVERY meal to assure everything was the way it was supposed to be. That's what it took to fix the problem. I would refer San Leandro Healthcare Center to anyone who needed rehab or a nursing home. I did have a couple of issues when my mom was there, like not being bathed in a week, but the nurse and caregivers worked with me to fix it. The problem is that they are way overworked, and need more caregivers to take care of the patients. I was told that every caregiver has 12. Yes, TWELVE patients. That is WAY TOO MANY FOR ONE CAREGIVER!! How are they supposed to give excellent care when they don't have enough CNAs working to help them?

    I don't know where to begin. No one ever wants to take their parent to nursing home, it to me was a place where people who didn't care about their loved ones were place to die. But I was really at a loss because my mom needed more care than I could provide to her at home since I had to work and Medicare benefits suck!!!! By the luck of God my mom ended up at the San Leandro Health Care Center. The place seemed a little outdated but don't be fooled by this first impression. The staff there is so so compassionate and caring. They treated my mom so wonderfully. Clearly the owner and management is doing something right because the employees have been around forever. They love their job and each other. Wow this place is fantastic. My mom is on hospice and Vinnie the administrator absolutely follows through on every promise he makes. Did you hear me, I know I can't believe it either. Someone in this industry that actually does what he says he is going to do. You would think everyone should do that but guess what folks, they DON'T. Wow , I can relax now and be comforted with the fact that my mother is in the best hands ever. I want to thank each and every employee by name but that would take up way to much of this review. I want anyone who is considering having to put their loved one in a rehab/nursing home to consider the San Leandro Healthcare Center the home of choice for their loved one because these people sincerely care. Thank you Vinnie and all the staff members of San Leandro Healthcare Center for taking such great care of my mother and making the end of her life and her transition into the afterlife a more comfortable experience. This place is truly A special little hidden gem!!!!
