Beware of this facility, poorly managed and unorganized. My father enter the facility in perfect health about a year ago. My father passed away 6/20/2012. My father was a patient at Golden living center portside. He was diagnosed with Alzheimers some time back and was a difficult man. I choose Golden living as they advertised Alzheimers care, well don't you believe it. After collecting their charges they through him out without notice to family. He ended up in the hospital as there was no room at the behavior health facility they sent him too. My father passed away within 2 weeks of being terminated from the Golden living facility due to an infection. The facility neglected his needs. When asked to communicate with family they ignored the request and or just didn't care. If you love your parent, stay clear of this facility.

Please, do not take my word for it. Compare CMS's website and see where this facility ranks as far as quality compared to all of its peers. The staff here makes you feel at home by creating a festive welcoming, and most importantly a comfortable environment for residents as well as families.

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected
Severity of the Deficiency Few Some Many
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm A B C
