I objectively give this score: I stayed at Tice Manor in Walnut Creek for two weeks. BEST nursing staff ever. Great physical therapists and equipment. Beautiful facility kept clean by friendly staff. However, the doctor was very cold and recklessly changed my med routine until I called my own doctor. Most of the food seemed to come out of a can. My friends began bringing me food. I can't give this place five stars because of the callous doc and lack of nutritious meals..

I am extremely disappointed in this facility. My mother used it after having a knee reconstruction two years ago and she loved it. Two years later, aautomate abdominal surgery it's a completely different facility with an insufficient number of staff to properly care for their patients. Moreover, the food was so bad, she lost over ten pounds during her stay. They also misplaced her clothing and lost her dental prosthetics and onceonfailed they lost them, they failed to help her procure a new set during the six+ week stay there. If that wasn't bad enough, they forgot to provide the medications that she needed during her discharge. Miscommunication and other mistakes further complicated receipt of her other prescriptions from the pharmacy. It's sad to see this facility's quality of care in such a steep decline. It was such a warm, friendly facility with caring and competent staff but that's no longer the case. Hopefully, if they address their issues, correct their mistakes and hire more staff, they can once again be that warm and inviting place again.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Don't let the location of being in Rossmoor or Walnut Creek fool you. This place is HORRIBLE. My mother was admitted there for one week after her spine surgery for rehabilitation and I don't even know where to start. The staff was completely in sensitive to my mothers needs. The food they prepared for patients looked like they were prepared for inmates-DISGUSTING. She would call the nurse button for bathroom assistance, food, water, pain management and they would show up an HOUR later! As we were leaving this hell-hole my sweet mother informed us that the nite nurses would actually YELL at her for requesting help. Read other reviews and judge for yourself. I would NEVER take my mother again under any circumstances and believe you me I will be calling to report this facility to the powers be.

I agree with Joe M.. I had the same experience with my mother when she was there. They treated her terrible the whole time she was there. She was always crying to me complaining about how bad the staff is there. Management really needs to re-evaluate their staff and make some serious replacements. Rude and heartless nurses and impatient physical therapist. I don't recommend this place to anyone. You've been warned.

This place mistreated my father the whole time he was there. Totally neglected him in every way. Physical therapist was none caring and very rude. As if he had no patience with my father. My father said he was always mean to him. The nurses were very rude as well. I don't recommend this place to anyone. If I could rate this place with zero stars I would.

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.
