    TERRIBLE, BELOW STANDARD OF CARE, IRRESPONSIBLE STAFF. Don't make the same mistake that I did. My mother, Jane M, resided at Courtenay Springs, Merrit Island from April of 2005 to April of 2009. During her stay, she suffered fractures, chronic eye infections and in one episode, she was left on the floor in the middle of the night for approximately 2 hrs starting at 1:00 am. They finally sent her to the hospital at 3:00 am. My mom had fallen when leaving the bathroom that late night. She fractured several ribs. When the attendant on duty found her, she asked my 91 year old mother, "why was she sleeping on the floor?" My mom's door in this ALF facility was typically left open at night and this opened door was literally no more than ten feet from the nurse's station. Following her rib fractures, she re-cooperated at Cape Canaveral Hospital and was subsequently readmitted, this time into the skilled nursing facility, wherein she developed pneumonia and was exposed to more of their substandard care. When my mother first entered the ALF in 2005, she walked on her own and could mostly take care of herself. When she left the facility in 2009, she could neither walk nor care for herself. She died two years later. We are in litigation with them. I would suggest that you don't subject your loved ones to their horrible care. YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT THEIR REVIEWS AND RATINGS BY THE FLORIDA AHCA, WHICH ARE ALL SUBSTANDARD.
