In my honest opinion I find this facility to be untrustworthy and extremely poor in conduct. The employees who work there are just as horrible as the environment of the place. Even if the decor changes the outer appearance nothing can change the foul and disgusting smell of urine. The most common thing I've notice is how unprofessional they handle situations and how they would sometimes ignore the health, needs and well-being of the elderly. I feel there is not an ounce of care, empathy and most importantly respect towards my family. It's depressing to realize the reality of the elderly community has always been abused, mistreated and neglected. Palm Garden of Aventura is the living embodiment of this truth. It is a great disappointment that there is very little they can do to make things right and it seems nothing has changed for the better. Even if some nurses and doctors are humane towards the seniors I find the place to be lacking a lot of important components. It is sickening that my family as well as others have to be stuck in a state of hopelessness and deserve this twisted treatment. So therefore as my final thoughts of this review use your energy and time to consider other alternatives. Not here.

My mom ,Maria Perez, room 266 w, has been in Palm Garden for 4 years. Right now her physical appearance and health is much better than when she get there. Her number are good as her doctor told me few weeks ago We, her daughter's, Osiris and Lourdes, are please and happy with the staff, clean and modern place. We will like to mention, Peach Ann, Ginete, Marion, Ms Betsy and also Dr Rastki (mom doctor) who always answer my questions fast and professional way. Thanks for been there for us Thanks for taking care my mom so efficiently. Osiris and Lourdes.

I posted a bad review due to a major concern and staff at Palm Garden has improved care, so I did them a favor, by removing actual contents of what I had to say, but now I will not be removing the following details. My grandmother can't speak because she had a stroke, she can only communicate by writing to us. My mom visits her and her friend visits her. I'm out of town, so unfortunately I cant visit her. I am eager to hear from people that visit her to see how she is doing. The friend was not able to visit for 3 days and called me when she was there on a Saturday. She said my grandmother's left hand was really swollen and she was concerned. I asked her to take a picture and send it to me so I could take a look. Then my grandmother reported that her PT sessions stopped. I asked to speak to the nurse so I could get her name ad find out what happened to my grandmother's hand. She said she had no idea, then said she wasn't aware of her being able to write to communicate, then threatened to call the police because the friend took a picture and texted it to me. In addition, she said that the friend is not a relative and not allowed to be there. My grandmother is being given psychiatric meds so she would sleep all day. Her room mate was passed out the whole time my grandmother's friend was visiting. There is more which I'm not posting here, but I'm filing a formal complaint. This is not acceptable!

This place should be investigated and assessed. The waiting time for a request from a patient is horrible. Some of the staff members act like they don't care.

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected
Severity of the Deficiency Few Some Many
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm A B C
