Yes the physical building and structure needs a real overhaul. Not just a cheap very cheap lipstick job. So much can be done immediately without breaking the bank at least to start with some physical improvements. Now for the actual care: this place is filled with many employees that truly care and do what they can with what they themselves have been provided. This is a very hard job and I knew my limitations enough to figure out that I needed them. It's so very sad to see our elderly live thier last stage of life away from loved ones. Everyone's situation is different which is why this place shouldn't be judged at face value. My suggestion would be is get to know the staff, treat them with respect and acknowledge thier efforts. It would be the best thing you can do for your loved one. I went out my way to make my presence known and made sure I went through every shift change to get to know my mother's attendees. It was quickly apparent that we both the staff and I needed a learning curve. Which is exactly what we did. From the director to the janitorial staff all equally important in the services they contributed to my mother's care. Get to know these individuals recognize that they are doing what you can't do for your loved ones dispite the lack of resources. They are more than happy to work with you and most important listen to your concerns. Come to grips that this isn't a 5 star hotel, but there trying. Help them help you and I promise you'll find someone there that will here you. All of us in this position share overwhelming concerns, but you fail your loved one if you don't work for solutions and ease to those concerns. You fail if you don't seek communication and look for reasonable considerations. Work with what you have, but make it work. They wont turn you away. Just in case anyone doubts my review, feel free to contact me personally. The only loyalty I owe to this establishment is the expression of appreciation my mother can not give herself. A woman who was bedridden for over 8yrs with the need of a feeding tube and adult diapers. To a person that was able to gain dexterity her hands so she can enjoy her word search puzzles. To a person that lost the ability of the use of her jaw muscles,Unable to eat . To a person that regained the ability to swallow, something we all take for granted. After 10 yrs of not having the privilege to sip water or a stimulation of her tastebuds. My mother was able to enjoy the comforts of a tall glass of water, the richness of ice cream and her very favorite comfort food, coffee and mash patatos with gravy. This may seem insignificant to most, but when your quality of life is deteriorated, these small pleasures mean everything in the world. These are only a few of the milestones my mother was able to reach before she past. I take comfort that she regained the integrity she once strived in and was able to die with the same integrity she lived. This is why I will be forever grateful to the staff, including administration at sea view nursing home and rehabilitation center There's no perfect place or paradise. This is far from one, to find the perfect place is a paradise that does not exist on this earth.. don't be to quick to judge, your loved one would be much better for it...

This place is very filthy. My sister was there and she was bedridden. She complained about not being bathed or changed. I hated leaving her in a place like that. She ended up in the hospital and didn't want to go back there. She complained the staff was hitting her. She has since died but I hate that her last days she suffered in a place like this. I recommend no one send your family here. This place needs to be investigated.

The place is filthy, and the stench is gag-making. Deplorable, we are trying to get my step-father OUT of that pit.

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected
Severity of the Deficiency Few Some Many
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm A B C
