As a Gerontologist, I am trained professionally to assess and improve living conditions for older adults. My family member has been a resident for almost four years, and overall I have been satisfied with eh care. Recently, with the passing of his spouse, I was visiting on a weekend and deeply disturbed at the lack of consideration and care my family member received. The loss a spouse is traumatic, especially for an older adult. To see the lack of consideration for my family member's grief and then to have the wrong meal brought to him really disturbed me. I had to advocate to have his meal corrected, and it was, but I know his decline or thrive in the next six months is correlated to his weight and eating being closely monitored. I cannot be there everyday, and after this visit I no longer have the confidence I once had in the care they are providing, especially in a moment of loss and hardship.

The facility was beautiful, residents were kind but I had a problem with how my schedule was done. I would work 7am and then told I had to move to another unit that was short meanwhile a new CNA would take over my unit. This meant I had to again start over in a new unit and get more residents up and give more showers, doubling my work. It made no sense to float me in the middle of my shifts constantly instead of having the CNA go on the short staffed unit. I loved it there but I did not need to be overworked. It's an extremely stupid policy.

I went here for physical therapy after hip replacement. The people here are great. My progress was fantastic. I highly recommend this facility for joint replacement rehabilitation! George Deas

Fines, Complaints, and Inspection Problems in the Past 3 Years

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected
Severity of the Deficiency Few Some Many
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm A B C
Presence Villa Scalabrini N&R has not received any fines, complaints, or inspection problems in the last 3 years.
