The Lodge itself looks up to date and has plenty of activities for residents. My complaint is with the rehabilitation side of the Lodge. Little to no light coming through the hallways and rooms (imagine a dungeon), no options for PT/OT on the weekends, and I would say some of the least caring staff I have ever experienced. The one staff my family connected with was a float from another facility, which explains why she actually cared about the residents and did her job. The employees here are far too few for the number of residents and are way too overworked, which shows in how they treat their patients. Patients can be left for over an hour waiting to be cleaned up, left in wheelchairs in hallways for hours with nothing to do, or basically left in their rooms unless you have a good relationship with one of the staff (if you don't, then your family member will likely be left to their own devices- hope they don't need help getting out of bed, because they'll be left there for hours). The PT/OT staff are only three people (of whom I'm not sure are licensed in Illinois) and do not offer weekend options. Even they will give an estimated time when the patient will be in therapy, but that time will come and go by well over an hour. All they seem to care about is getting you in and out within 21 days, as this is when they'll receive full reimbursement from Medicare. These services should be individualized to patient needs, not just run by how much money the facility will get back. This facility is also very hostile towards family members visiting, almost as if they don't want outsiders to see how patients are being treated (or not treated as the case is). I would highly recommend doing further research into other rehabilitation facilities if your loved one needs rehabilitation services.

The only place for my family members. Several of mine have lived here, both my grandparents have started out in an apartment, moving as they needed more care. Caring staff, clean environment, good food.

Overall Ratings of Illinois Nursing Homes
Fines, Complaints, and Inspection Problems in the Past 3 Years
Compare The Number of Problems
Types of Problems at Nursing Homes
Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.
Residents Affected | |||
Severity of the Deficiency | Few | Some | Many |
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety | J | K | L |
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy | G | H | I |
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy | D | E | F |
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm | A | B | C |
