Just wanted to update my review as I just returned home after a total knee replacement. This was my second stay at Alden Estates of Skokie. Again the care was wonderful. Each day the staff worked on finding solutions to post operative pain. The staff works together and treats you like family. The food was like excellent home cooked meals. There isn't room here to report on all my favorite dishes. ....just wonderful. Even the administrator pitched in when the floor was busy. The therapists were also devoted to getting me back on my feet. I don't write reviews, but this place really stands out!

The physical atmosphere is healing to the body just as the therapy is. The lovely decor includes room furnishings reflective of a home from the pleasing flower pattern on the curtains, shelf alcoves, a soothing mist green wall and carpet color. The therapy is given in a large room similar to a small health club with its variety of machines and equipment. Beautiful art deco posters adorn the walls. My physical and occupational therapist provided me with a highly personalized daily program of exercises that were challenging yet appropriate to help me walk after my bilateral knee replacement. The nursing staff were attuned to my medical needs and always provided attention in a personable professional manner. The nursing assistants were always quick to respond to requests for assistance.Nothing was too small or large for them to offer support to you, and they did it with a smile. Food was nourishing and plentiful. Social worker was dedicated and kept in contact with you especially in prep for a transition into Alden as well return in home. Exceptional rehab facility specializing in knee and hip replacement clients! Carleen Lorys

Alden Estates of Skokie far exceeded my expectations. The care I received after hip replacement was exceptional. Every staff member was compassionate, careful, and cheerful. I can't say enough! The food was excellent and the therapists were wonderful. I am grateful to friends who steered me to this special place of healing.

The team of nurses, CNA's and Physical Therapist were the best!!!! I had bilateral knee replacement surgery and they had me up and moving immediately. The were supportive, kind, motivating and just one of the best teams to have in your corner during a recovery. Special shout out to Kim and Rhonda the CNA's amazing ladies!!! I want to also recognize one of the most dedicated, empathic, motivating and caring Physical Therapist ....Karen she is the best!!!! She had me up and walking, going up stairs and doing things I never imagined I could do after the surgery...a real inspiration!!!! Thank you all for everything.

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected
Severity of the Deficiency Few Some Many
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm A B C
Alden Estates Of Skokie has not received any fines, complaints, or inspection problems in the last 3 years.
