From my personal experience with family and a stranger...avoid if possible. We know that nursing homes and hospice centers are where you go for the end of the road in most cases. And they treat their patients like a number. If you don't believe me go inside and walk around. Recently i found one of their patients outside of a outpatient surgery center. They had been outside in 95 degree heat alone and with no water for over an hour. River walk had been contacted twice by the center. The pick up never showed up. I called when i realized that he had been out there for so long. They said we're working on it and hung up. It wasn't until 30 more minutes of waiting with him they finally decided to show up. Had i not noticed, who knows how long it would have been until the showed up. My personal experience with my father in law was scary as well. Had we known what kind of place they're running we would have looked other places.

Compare The Number of Problems
Types of Problems at Nursing Homes
Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.
Residents Affected | |||
Severity of the Deficiency | Few | Some | Many |
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety | J | K | L |
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy | G | H | I |
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy | D | E | F |
