    My mom has been at GL in portage for 3 1/2 years. The staff in memory care are amazing. My mom, compliments and loves all the staff. Thank you for your wonderful, caring staff, Alice, Karen John?, all cna's and many more.

    If i could give this place negative stars i would give it an infanite negative. Never in my life have i seen such poor treatment from a nursing home. Disgusting trash. They do not care about your loved ones they are there for a paycheck. This place needs to be closed and I will be writing multiple complaints to the state of Indiana. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!

    I visited a friend at this facility and its deplorable! The stench of urine and feces wafts throughtout the premises. Filthy disgusting rooms, old plates of food that looked like it was from three days ago. Flies everywhere and it didn't help that the heat was so high that it made the terrible stench of filth and decay overwhelming!! Floors in patients room sticky. I had to help her use the rest room, she was hungry and it was dinner time so I called for help and was told 'She refused" no she did not! I went off! Between the nauseating stench,flies,floors and a variety of excuses as to why she was in my opinion just totally forgotten about-I snapped. Employees could care less. After hearing from a snotty CNA "Theres nothing wrong here, we don't have to check on them every minute of the day." I angrily told her "Yeah but if this was your grandmother it wouldn't be like this!" The last and final straw was after hearing a man beg for anyone's attention and didn't get help, I walked up to them and said "I know you can hear that man asking for help for over 45 minutes now?!" So a CNA shut his door! I felt terrible that my poor neighbor and friend of our family was in this dump and cried all the way home. Do not place your family here! Its a prison for the helpless and needs to be shut down.

    First off you should really watch the way you talk to be people especially in the field you choose, i believe her name is irma and she was appallingly disgusting with her attitude towards a simple question i was taken aback totally unnecessary. If you cant be nice to people you should consider changing fields its just pathetic. no excuses for nasty behavior like that.
