    I am a family friend who knows of a loved one at Brighton Gardens of PV. My friend's mother was a resident and because of incompetent assessments, poor communication and documentation, and failure to timely reporting to residential medical staff she had an extreme medical condition occur. Although she survived, her life was forever impaired. According to my friend, several of the direct care staff were compassionate but are barely able to do the minimum because of staffing issues and lack of leadership. As far as nursing staff goes, there were several that had varying degrees of incompetence , such as medication borrowing, failure to recognize symptoms of underlying medical issues, failure to report significant changes to the appropriate medical staff, and failure to take ownership of errors. My friend told me he will never place his mother there again or recommend this facility to others. Really check out any facility that you are considering, do reviews, check their surveys, visit multiple times at different times unannounced, search for reviews, ask to speak with residents and family, etc.

    Brighton Garden's staff has demonstrated a severe lack of skill in caring for those in need. One aide tried to give my mother the wrong dose of medication in spite of being told of the correct dosage. Lack of training, skill and empathy resulted in a lengthy argument. The aid was finally corrected when she checked the computer records. With some medications this attitude could result in a patient's death. If enough patients complain to their doctors, Brighton Garden's will take notice. Please let your doctor know of any stupid acts you see in that sub-standard facility.

    My step mother and I are very disappointed in the level of care and the condition of the facilities for when my dad was staying there. His bed was broken, his call light wouldn't work, the light over his bed wouldn't work - finally had to go to reception desk at front office to specifically request maintenance assistance. One day my step mom walked in and my dad had ants crawling on him, another time it was noticed there was black mold growing under the window. When they moved him to a new room several of his personal items went missing, i.e., electric toothbrush, electric razor. Often he was not clean when my step mom came to visit. They never helped him find his teeth when they went missing - I usually found them in a pants pocket in the wash when I picked it up - which meant for days he went without them. He lost over 20 lbs during the several months he was here. We also had questions about the billing but no one would ever contact us back - even after sending a long letter and requesting the courtesy of a reply. We believe the billing is incorrect but paid it because there was a $250 a month late fee for unpaid balance. Horrible experience. BUT the care staff were wonderful, caring people - just understaffed and overworked.

    Looks great on the outside, not so much on the inside. Staff is very disorganized with keeping track of patients and meds.
