Great hospital! Much better than people give it credit for. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable and the inside always looks clean and neat. The cafeteria food here is some of the best food you can get in Knox County and the prices are unbeatable. Definitely an underrated hospital.

My condition for this emergency room visit was because a very mild chainsaw cut to my left thigh. Being former military I knew how to perform basic bandaging and I was very calm considering what it was. I believe because I was so calm I wasn't rushed straight back to a room. I was in the waiting room for about 20 minutes before being called back. My nurse Raven and her trainee was absolutely wonderful. I could tell right away they were very knowledgeable. The doctor on duty was great. He did everything possible to make me comfortable and took the time to make sure I understood what my condition was and the steps they was going to take to help me which meant a lot to me considering I didn't know the severity at this point. I'm so glad I had them on duty when I was there. Thank you guys so much and I would definitely recommend this hospital based on my experience. I hope others have the same.

Lab is the worst! Every single time we have had blood drawn, they always call an hour later to say they ",missed" a lab order. Want you to drive back for more blood draw. This has happened 6x's, tried (with no luck) to talk with lab super & even left 2 vm for administrator. Never received a vall back from either. Incompetent people in the lab...very dangerous! Done with them.

Absolutely terrible hospital, do NOT go for outpatient services if the registration is closed, you will wait hours upon hours for NOTHING. Basically refused to be seen! Ridiculous.

Overall Ratings of Kentucky Nursing Homes

Fines, Complaints, and Inspection Problems in the Past 3 Years

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected
Severity of the Deficiency Few Some Many
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm A B C
Knox County Hospital has not received any fines, complaints, or inspection problems in the last 3 years.

Staffing Levels Per Resident per Day

Medicare determines the expected staffing time per resident per day depending on level of care the residents of Knox County Hospital require. It is important to compare the reported time to expected time for a single facility instead of comparing the amount of time per resident of two facilities. Learn why.
