    Please stay by your loved one if they are passing! My grandmother resided at Essex Park for nearly five years. Overall it was clean and safe, the nurses, activity, and facility staff took good care of her and genuinely cared about her. Over the years they made physical improvements to the building and overall it worked...until her last day of life. She had wanted to wear her 2 favorite rings and never took them off for the whole time she was there. She had mentioned that when she dies, we would have them. We knew she was in her final day, so I went to see her. On that day she held my hand tightly and I took a pic of that. I know from the pic that she was wearing at least one of the rings. I knew she loved those rings and felt the staff was reasonably honest so I did not hesitate to keep them on her. However, when she passed the nursing home was quick to offer her son her stuffed animals, but no mention of the rings. When he later questioned them, they claim they checked, but there was no sighting of them. I know that unfortunately this happens frequently at nursing homes, and it's probably just one bad apple employee l, but none the less it's stealing and wrong! I know my grandmother's karma will come to this employee, but the nursing home should have strict policies in place to track personal belongings to ensure the residents live and die with dignity. Very disappointing.
