    My first impression of the building was its cleanliness and good up keep. The staff is very polite and helpful. The staff definitly takes good care of my aunt. No matter how busy the days seem to be, the residents are always first priority

    The staff at Medilodge of Portage is amazing! They love their residents and treat them like they are family, because they are in the eyes of the staff there. I cannot say better things about the Director of Nursing and the Administrator. Love this center and the food prepared by Chef Rodger is out of this world.

    My dad was a resident at Medilodge of Portage for a year and a half, including the final days of his beautiful 94-year life. While it's not the fanciest place, we were initially impressed by its well-designed layout and sense of cleanliness and professionalism. After we moved dad in, we soon realized it was the staff that made Medilodge special; their sincerity, care, and compassion of was far and above anything we expected. Dad started on rehab hall "C", spent a short time on "A" hall, then moved to "D" hall where he spent the majority of his time, including his last days. While Tina and the entire team on "D" will always hold a very special place in my heart, we witnessed many magical moments of compassion from the staff everywhere: the aide sitting with my dad, holding his hand on her lunch hour, the nurse texting to see how dad was doing while she was on her honeymoon, the many kisses on the forehead, the comforting chats and so many more moments that I will cherish forever. Was every moment of every day perfect? Of course not. But on those rare moments, each and every concern was immediately addressed - the Medilodge Portage administration is serious about building a team of people who truly care. Nobody wants to face that day when you have to move a loved-one into a nursing home. But when you do, you realize it's the heart and soul of the people that matters most. When my dad passed, we were comforted by staff from all over the facility who we met along the way including those from the kitchen, maintenance and janitorial, reception, administration, physical and occupational therapy and, of course, the incredible nurses and aides. There were hugs and tears everywhere. I know my dad left this earth with dignity, peace, comfort, and compassion. That's all anyone can ask for. Tina, Jessica, Nia, Teesha, Angela, Amber and Amber, Natasha, Claire, Kaylee, Donna, Karen, Carrie, Ashley, Stacy, Mary, Hector, Scott, Carly - pardon the ones I missed or misspelled - you are absolute angels, dedicated people in an often thankless job. We laughed together and cried together. (You even tolerated my singing!) It was an honor to get to know each and every one of you. I am forever grateful.

    I am most displeased......I sent my husband to only one week of respite care to this place.....I made sure he had a change of clothes for every day and that they were washed and folded in his suit case....his clothes came back unwashed and a few that had been wet on..... were left in plastic bags packed in his suit case. So....this morning he had no clean clothes. Not a happy wife!
