Tony May and the staff at PRC Emergency Department were the most kind, helpful and professional staff that has ever cared for my child. I sincerely appreciate everything that was done for us.

The governing entity/JACHO/PR Health department needs to close this facility down. Our parent has been in this facility since mid October, each time we have been by to visit him either his room is dirty, clothes are not washed or he and his clothes are dirty. The have claimed the housekeeping contract is not doing their job, etc. Well, let me tell you this past Thursday we were called and told they were sending him to the picayune hospital (Highland), that he would be there in an hour. Family waited at the hospital and he never came. Finally was informed the ambulance had taken him to Hattiesburg instead. Long story short, our parent was severely dehydrated, had a bacterial infection, staff had found him to be unclean when they catherized him and was close to dying. Doctors told us the dehydration did not happen overnight. Neglect of our loved ones is not acceptable on any level. Whoever the governing body over this nursing home is needs to come in and literally 'clean' house.

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected
Severity of the Deficiency Few Some Many
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm A B C
