Spending much time at this facility, I have the privilege of observing the kind, caring and compassionate employees and how they interact with the residents. The facility is always well kept and the residents are well taken care of. They're truly in good hands and are made to feel at home.

My brother has been at Cliffside for quite a while. We have been incredibly pleased with the care he has been receiving. The staff is warm & efficient. The facility is clean. Definitely recommend.

I visit this facility almost daily. Employees are very friendly and patients seem well taken care of. I would highly recommend this to somebody who needs their services.

Our mother has been on the 6th floor vent unit at Cliffside for the past fourteen months. The respiratory therapists and nursing staff have been very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Cliffside is a clean facility and our mom is well taken care of. We are very grateful for the care that she receives at Cliffside.

My father passed away there. I received the phone call around 7:45a.m. on February 3rd. I had to get dressed, get to my mother's house, wake her, tell her and try to get her up and ready. She is 89 years old and states her bones don't warm up enough to move until about 11a.m.. But, she got up and we got out before then. My brother was in the process of dropping his two children at different schools and his wife at work. He wanted to meet us there so we could all be together when we saw Dad. I received a second call to ascertain around what time we thought we would make it to Cliifside. I received a third call to let us know that they were going to move Dad into a smaller room but, comfortable enough for us to view him. There words not mine. We got there approximately 3 hours after the first call. We waited for them to get someone to take us to see Dad. When we got to the room they put him in. I opened the door as best I could but there was an empty gurney/stretcher behind the door that would not allow more than one of us to walk in sideways at a time. There was an portable airconditioner on in the room which made it cold and loud in the room. I asked that it be turned off long enough for all of us to see Dad. I was told that they couldn't turn it off. My dad's body was completely wrapped in a sheet which I had to figure out how to unwrap to see his face. There was no pillow under his head so of course his mouth was flung open and his tongue sticking out. I failed to mention how dark it was in the room. It appears the light bulbs were out. While we waited for someone to fix the lights I noticed that the sign on the room said "Storage Closet." Mainteneace came to the room to replace the bulbs but instead of moving Dad out of the room he got on a small later and tried to reach over my father. It was ridiculous and finally I went in and helped him replace the bulbs so that we could all see my father. Thank God his stay there was short. While there were a couple nurses that seemed to work hard and care there was a complete lack of care and sensitivity on the part of Cliffside, especially in the end. This is my review which merits zero stars. It also brings me to question exactly what he died from. I wish I could have afforded an autopsy. It took me this long to be able to repeat this story in language appropriate to be read publicly.

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected
Severity of the Deficiency Few Some Many
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm A B C
