    When my husband was having to relocate to a nursing home that took VA Contracts, I looked long and hard to hopefully find one where he would be treated properly. I did my own walk through several times before I even mentioned to the staff I was looking to see what kind of facility they had. I wanted to get a feel for what it was like and see the staff at work without knowing anyone was coming in, before speaking to them. I was impressed. The residents were happy, looked well cared for, no one was out there sitting in wheelchairs looking as if they were desperate for the first person who came along to help them. The staff was happily going about their work, interacting with the residents, and each other. Nothing seemed canny or put on at all. Each time I visited, I got the same feeling. Finally, I made an appointment to speak to someone. Little did I know I was speaking to the head director at the time, or I may have been a little easier on him than I was! He was clean cut, well groomed and a very pleasant person. Much more so than his first encounter with me! I met him with a very stern voice saying, "I want to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about how this facility works. I don't want anything flowered up, and I don't want anything held back, I want to know exactly what goes on inside this building with residents and their care." He never blinked an eye, and told me they are not perfect, but are doing their best to have the best care center possible. At the time, I felt he was telling the truth as he did not have that look that other places who did not do a good job had. He was happy to explain the procedures and policies and offered to take me on a tour. I declined at that time as my time was short, but I had already walked up and down the halls looking to see if there were any strange odors, residents in less than desirable condition or staff just loafing around not doing their job. I had not noticed one thing in each of these visits that made me think it would not be a good place. The day came for my husband to be transported to the facility, and we were both rather nervous. He was greeted by a fairly good staff, who did all they could to put our minds at ease, and proceeded with their duties of getting him checked in and settled. Again I was impressed! I returned daily at odd hours of the day and night, to check up on how things were going. He was happy with his care, the food, and the facility. Things have not changed in the nearly 2 months he has been in their care. He is well cared for, the staff is very friendly, very capable, and very nice. The residents are all cared for in the same loving, professional and caring manner. Everyone seems to be very happy there, except for the fact that those who are not beyond hope of going home, long for the day they can return home. They are happy with the staff and the manner of which they are cared for. The family and friends of the residents also make the same comments, that they are happy their loved one is in this facility and that they are cared for so well. If you are considering putting a family member or a friend in Avamere King City, you will not be disappointed! They do a wonderful job and the residents are happy to be there.

    they give great care, dad is in fine hands . always well groomed and well taken care of, we are very happy with the care they give, no complaints on that level .. but they are HORRIBLE with their phones you cant ever get through.
