    I'm an experienced CNA of more than 17 years and this is by far the most dirtiest and smelliest facility I've ever come across. I worked at Holy Redeemer LaFayette, which is extremely clean and they take pride in their work and most of the staff has been there for years. I left there so that I could be a stay at home mom to my newborn. Fast-forward two years and I'm ready to work in my field again. I applied for a position here and was hired almost immediately. Needless to say, I did not return after the orientation. There is a lack of empathy for the clients that reside there. This was evident by some of the things I witnessed during my tour of the facility. I could not be part of an organization that allows certain things to occur without disciplinary actions and change. Some of the nurses appear to be scared to direct the CNA staff. Most of the CNAs stand around while the clients are left in soiled diapers and need attention. Whatever happened to quality of life? This place is no bueno. ?

    Today I visited my grandmother twice. The first time I visited at 12 pm. At that time she was sitting in a chair in the hallway eating lunch. The second time I visited was 6 pm. She was still sitting in the same spot but this time she held a soiled diaper in her hands. The diaper was leaking and she had feces on her hands, shirt, face and hair. She was not being attended too by anyone. When I started questioning staff why my grandmom has a soiled leaking diaper in her hands, a man (Dan) who was visiting his relative in the room next door approached me and told me that my grandmom had been sitting like this for an hour and that the nurses/aids who were passing by her were looking and laughing at her instead of doing their jobs and helping her. Dan submitted a formal report for this situation (copy attached). I called over nurse Kuruvila but she refused to give me the name of my grandmom's aid. When she called over one of the aids, the aid threw major attitude saying that she was busy doing dishes. If the nurse is not able to control the floor and aids, she should not be in that position. I am extremely distressed by this situation and request that immediate action is taken to address such an awful treatment of patients whose care and dignity is being trusted to the staff of this facility.
