Twice recently to ER once for my self and tonight with 99 year old lady friend. People have been waiting for over 9 hours. There has to be better service than this. SAD

Please do not go to Sentara Obici Hospital. In August 5, 2016, my mom went to the emergency room to find out why she was having pains and vomiting. The doctor told her that her enzyme levels were high, and he expected her to understand what that meant instead of just telling her that she something was wrong with her heart. That Sunday, my mom and I decided to go back to the hospital because my mom wasn't feeling real bad but not 100%. They gave her tests and they still didn't give her the details of what was going on. She did find out that she had heart trouble. Fast forward to this year, and my mom and I went back there again, and they did blood work on her because she was having chest pains. We waited from 6:00 PM-2:45 AM. We decided to leave because we were fed up. Please go to Harbourview, Norfolk General, or Leigh Memorial if you are able. Sentara Obici sucks.

Normally I never have a problem with Obici but tonight was not the night. 9/24/17-9/25/17 my visit lasted 5 long hours. And I dont fault them for that they were semi busy and maybe short staffed but my RN Donna was rude as soon as I came through the door had nothing but an attitude the whole time. I asked for a blanket and she relpied with "I dont think we have anymore you can go look in the fridge" and made us get our own blanket. When I asked about the medication I was supposed to be receiving she replied with "I put in the order but I havent had time to get that yet" she was completely careless. She made me feel like it was a problem for me to come in and ask for their help. When I was waiting for my release forms she hands me all my papers and a pen. And I had no clue why she was handing me a pen. She grabbed the papers out of my hand found the paper I needed to sign and pointed at the x. Didnt say a word. While I was leaving another patient had a foot injury and couldn't walk. they pushed him to the door and said ok. He started getting up to walk all the way to his vehicle and another member of my party helped him to his vehicle. The rude RN said oh you're helping him? As she's walking back in the doors. My doctor Michael Hurban was the nicest sweetest person. He had the best bed side manor. I give him 5 stars. Thats the only thing that made my night better.

Dr. Fox took amazing care of me when I had my back surgery. The entire hospital staff was friendly and made me comfortable during my stay.

My fiancee was in there last night. He has diabetes, a swollen scrotum, and, a heart functioning at 20%. They sent him home without treating him. Worse yet... A nurse in the ER told him to his face, she didn't care about him. When he said he refused to leave, they threatened to call security and have him removed.

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected
Severity of the Deficiency Few Some Many
Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
No actual harm with potential for minimal harm A B C
