We had my mom sent to this facility because she was having difficulty walking and kept falling, and I wasn't able to attend to her 24 hours a day. Like Kelly Guerrettaz, she was alert, talking, able to go the bathroom on her own. within 24 hours she was in a coma state. She was left lying in her wet pull up for long periods of time. She wasn't able to push the button for herself because of her drugged state. She endind up with a kidney infection (not diagnosed by the hospital). I too had to threaten to take her back to the hospital before the Nurse Practitioner spoke with me. She was supposedly getting the dosage of medicines sent over from the hospital. But is certainly wasn't the dosage she got from home. She is back to herself now and ready to go home. PT has been great for her ; those girls are exceptional!

Compare The Number of Problems

Types of Problems at Nursing Homes

Some issues within a nursing home are much more severe than others. Medicare evaluates each problem based on 2 scales: the number of residents affected by a problem and the severity of the potential or actual harm to residents based on the problem. We have color coded the matrix below to make it easier to pick out the more severe problems. In general, orange and red issues related to the treatment of a resident are considered substandard quality of care.

  Residents Affected

Immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety J K L
Actual harm that is not immediate jeopardy G H I
No actual harm with potential for more than minimal harm that is not immediate jeopardy D E F
